“Why I write” is an academic text (last version)

academic texts are defined by their structure defined, formal style, the title that gives account of the ideas that the author develop in his text and finally the intention and the contextualization, at first when you start to read the text of George Orwell You may think this is an autobiographical text, because he made a detailed description about how was his own experience at the time of writing.

The main characteristic of the academic text is the specific information supported by a research of any kind or an analysis which brings about a particular academic field, and which then can be turned into a reliable source. However In the debate that we did, all the people including the professor presented the arguments about the Orwell’s text was or wasn’t an academic text.

After to listen and reading the text many times I can say that the text uses a specific vocabulary although not exactly the rigid structure with which we identify an academic text, but the author develop an introduction and different an historical arguments which is why he write for that reason I say the text of George Orwell’s is an academic text.

  1. Hi!!!
I agree with you. There is not only one way to write an academic text, especially if the subject is so personal as writing fiction.
    Corrections:
1 In the first line you use twice "defined", the second is quite confusing, you should eliminate it.
2In the second line after contextualization you put a comma, but if you should put a period, because the following idea is different.
3 In the fourth line you can replace "at the time" for "when".
