For me writing in Spanish is like when I can’t find my glasses; I look for them everywhere and after a while I realize that I’m wearing them. I’ll explain myself: when I have to write, words are there, so does the main idea of the text, but when I take the pen or the keyboard, both words and ideas get lost and I begin to roam from one phrase to another; after fighting awhile with words, suddenly I remember what I was trying to say and finally the text gets its shape.
For me writing in English is like bittersweet food because I feel like I’m not able to think entirely in English, I still depend on my mother tongue when I write in English: the most challenging issue is to preserve the same sense of what I’m trying to say and mistakes become the best way to learn.
For me writing in French is so enjoyable, that as I read in a newspaper, it should be forbidden to enjoy it much more. It is complicated and as in English I depend on Spanish to produce meaning. Despite that, being French and Spanish related, writing in French is also a good way to discover how Spanish works.
