"Why I Write" is NOT an academic essay. (3rd Version)

I think "Why I write" it is not an academic essay because are missing important aspects of “essay” in the text. The author just relates his personal experience telling some reasons why he writes, but it doesn’t mean it is not an academic text.

When I read by first time the text I thought it was an academic essay because of its structure. It has a similar structure of an academic essay. It starts by an introduction, then a thesis which is supported by giving arguments and the ending has a conclusion. Also, the author uses specific vocabulary about the topic and wants to convince readers about his point of view. After the debate we had in the classroom I changed mind.

At this moment, I think “Why I write” by George Orwell is not an academic essay as well, because an academic essay is more specialized and not that subjective. Although taking into account those reasons I mentioned before the “debate” that changed my mind, I can’t deny it is an “academic text” (not an essay but academic). I believe not only scientific or texts impossible to understand are academic. Texts which are giving opinions or points of view supported by arguments, ideas, demonstrating thesis and knowledge about specific topics must be taken into account as academic too.
