Chilean education Conflict (3rd version)

The 2011 Chilean protests are focused on demanding a new framework for Education in Chile, which includes more direct state participation in secondary education, the end to the existence of profit in higher education and to build new public universities because since Pinochet era no public universities have been built , so, the most of universities are private.

In Chile, the students must pay a lot of money if they want to attempt to university (higher education). Only 45% of universities in Chile are public. So, if poor people can’t pay, they must make a loan, subsidized loan which is paid after studying, when they graduate the university studies. Therefore, it’s a loan they have to pay almost the rest of their life because the interests are elevated and the education quality deficient. Chile's education system is grossly unfair.

Unfortunately, the problem is not only in Chile. In Colombia was going to happen the same. That’s why students are protesting against the reformulation to “Ley 30”. The state was not taken into account when the government decided to imposed this new reform where education became a “profit” not a “right”. Therefore, people who don’t have money to pay their higher education can take a “loan” just like in Chile.

In conclusion, if now days most of Colombian can’t access to higher education because there are not enough public universities and private universities are too expensive. It’s obvious the reform was not going to bring a solution but a HUGE PROBLEM. Problem the community is not willing and able to accept anymore.
