Fahrenheit 451 is a movie based on a novel written by Ray Bradbury. This film is directed Francois Truffaut. The film shows a perception of the society and the fears that some governments are afraid every single person will wake up from its domination. Fahrenheit 451 presents an oppressive future society in which reading is considered criminal conduct. In this film, the government believes that people who read are a risk to the nation where to be an individual is strongly discouraged.
The main character of this story is Montag, a fireman who begins reading after meeting a girl named Clarisse who starts questioning Montag’s way of life and why books need to be burned. This brings a lot of problems to Montag and turns his life drastically.
The world of “Fahrenheit 451” could be seen with a short rel
evance to today’s society since it is not as pronounced as it has been back in 1966; however this film makes us ponder over our own society and the decay of social values.
Finally and although it is an old movie and special effects look a little naïve, we can see that this is a very nice piece of work which contains a strong critic to those fears that some governments feel when they oppress societies.
