(Eduardo Gómez) Micro-writing practice 5: “Writing must be understood as technology and therefore, as artificial”.

I agree with this statement since, as we have discussed in different courses, everything that facilitates any aspect of our life is a technology and this is what writing does if we take into account that some rules and structures facilitates this type of communication in a specific group of people or in the whole society.

Although, some people think it is not a technology because in this era there is a wrong conception that relates technology to computers and machines. We must think about it and realize that typewriters and computers are just other tool for writing. And, many years ago writing was a new tool even in today’s world it is seen as an ordinary ability.

Also, I agree with the idea of writing must be understood as artificial, because we were not born and started writing naturally, but we went to schools to learn how to do it. Besides, when writing we must be aware of formal aspects like grammar, syntax, etc. Contrarily, when speaking we are more spontaneous and we do it unconsciously in terms of formal aspects.
